Indulge in the refreshing and tangy flavors of homemade Blackberry Lemonade. This drink combines freshly squeezed lemons with juicy blackberries, creating a vibrant and sweet-tart beverage perfect for hot summer days or any time you crave a burst of fruity goodness.

Ingredients

Scale

1 1/2 c sugar

8 c water, divided

2 c blackberries, fresh or frozen (thawed)

2 c lemon juice

Instructions

  1. Make the Simple Syrup: In a small saucepan, combine the sugar with 1 1/2 cups of water. Place the saucepan over medium heat and stir until the sugar has completely dissolved, creating a simple syrup. Remove the saucepan from heat and set it aside to cool.
  2. Prepare the Blackberries: In a blender or food processor, add the blackberries along with 1 cup of water. Blend until the blackberries are pureed into a smooth consistency. Set a fine-mesh sieve or strainer over a large pitcher or bowl. Pour the blackberry puree through the sieve to strain out the seeds. Use a spoon or spatula to press against the solids and extract as much liquid as possible. Discard the seeds and any remaining solids.
  3. Make the Lemonade: In the same pitcher or bowl, add the freshly squeezed lemon juice. Stir well to combine the blackberry puree and lemon juice. Pour the simple syrup into the pitcher or bowl with the blackberry-lemon mixture. Stir until well combined. Add the remaining 5 1/2 cups of water to the pitcher or bowl and mix thoroughly. Taste the blackberry lemonade and adjust the sweetness or tartness to your preference. If it's too sweet, add a little more lemon juice. If it's too tart, add a bit more simple syrup.
  4. Chill and Serve: Once you've achieved the desired taste, cover the pitcher or bowl and refrigerate for at least 1 hour to chill and allow the flavors to meld together. Before serving, give the blackberry lemonade a good stir. Fill glasses with ice cubes and pour the lemonade over the ice. Garnish with fresh blackberries and lemon slices if desired. Serve chilled and enjoy your refreshing homemade blackberry lemonade!
