Hello! My name is Lyndsey and welcome to Censored Baker - a place where annoying eaters of all kinds can come together in harmony.
First off, I feel I should probably give my definition of an "Annoying Eater"...
an-noy-ing eat-er
noun
- A person who subscribes to a particular or "restricted" diet, i.e., vegan, gluten-free, nut-free, etc.
- An individual who bases their entire personality on what they eat/do not eat instead of on their work, family, interests, hobbies, etc.
Ex: "That gentleman sitting in the corner reading fan-fiction he printed out at the library while loudly complaining about the hit his bowels will take from the high gluten levels in his beer is an annoying eater."
Was that sentence a run-on? Likely so. Still, it felt necessary for me to paint a picture. I feel obligated to do so as an annoying eater myself.
I have been vegan since 2011. Over a decade in the game. When I made this decision I didn't know any vegan people in my life. This still hasn't changed. I live alone in my weirdness among my friends and family. HOWEVER. Alternative eating has multiplied online to levels that have absolutely blown my mind. There are now so many social media pages and blogs dedicated completely to these kinds of recipes.
That said, I have noticed a bit of a hole in the vegan dessert/trashy, savory recipe scene. While I have certainly come across many blogs trying to be inclusive, it is difficult to find a space that is dedicated in its entirety to plant-based junk food. Plant-based health food? Fine. Meatless Monday? Sure. But straight up 100% vegan junk food!? Nope.
With Censored Baker I aim to fill that void. I promise all fun, all vegan, all the time. There is also a sprinkling of gluten-free options (and options for other kinds of annoying eaters as well) for our celiac friends.
Just because our baking is censored does NOT mean it has to be boring.
If anything, it is the censorship that makes it exciting.
Enjoy the f*od,
Lyndsey
