Time for another Taylor Swift inspired mocktail! This week marks the drop of the "You're on Your Own Kid" Mocktail! I wanted the focus of this drink to be on kid-friendly flavors and more specifically on flavors that I really enjoyed in my childhood. Cherry-lime was likely the epitome of flavors at that time in my life and I thought it would be negligent of me to exclude it here. I also added lots of pineapple flavor because WHY NOT!?

"You're on Your Own Kid" Mocktail Ingredients
- Frozen Cherries: Dark, frozen, pitted cherries work best here. You can find them in the frozen fruit section of most grocery stores. Do not substitute fresh!
- Pineapple Juice: Pineapple juice adds a natural sweetness to this mocktail as well as incredible, tropical flavor. Try to find a juice that does not have any added sugar. The pineapple on its own is sweet enough.
- Lime Juice: Do NOT use lime juice from concentrate. When you are making cocktails/mocktails the fresher your ingredients the better the experience. Purchase a few limes so that you can use one for juice and several others for slicing and garnishes.
- Ginger Ale: Any bottle or can of regular, unflavored ginger ale will do here. Pick your favorite flavor.
- Sparkling Water: Sparkling water is unsweetened and adds a nice amount of carbonation to any mocktail. You can use an unflavored variety or you can sub a lemon or lime flavor.
Steps to Make a "You're on Your Own Kid" Mocktail
- Blend and Strain: Add frozen cherries, pineapple juice and line juice to a blender and blend until completely smooth. If you do not have a very powerful machine, run mixture through a fine mesh sieve to catch cherry debris.
- Assemble and Serve: Stir in ginger ale and sparkling water. Pour into glasses filled to the top with crushed ice and garnish with lime wedges and pineapple wedges. Serve with paper straws and mini umbrellas if feeling fancy. Embrace your inner child with, “You’re on Your Own Kid!”
Tips for Making a "You're on Your Own Kid" Mocktail
- If you do not have a powerful high speed blender, it is likely there will be chunks of cherry skin floating around after you blend them with the pineapple juice. If this is the case no worries! Run the mixture through a fine mesh sieve when transferring from the blender to your desired pitcher before proceeding to the next step. This will catch all of the debris!
- Do NOT put ginger ale or sparkling water into the blender. You will create a large amount of foam that will be near-impossible to get rid of.
- Garnishes are what make this drink fun so please don't leave them out! Decorate your glass with lime and pineapple wedges and top with cocktail umbrellas and serve with paper straws.
